Splendid Weekend

Well, it was pretty damn good! Byron bay is beautiful...

The venue was muddy...

Met some guy called shaaaayyynnne who helped us out who was from the mid-coast and likes queens of the stone age and hilltop hoods, but then surprised us with his secret love of Belle and Sebastian. Went to his campsite to find his friend passed out in the back of the car and a blow up doll on their tent.

Then we saw mercury rev and it was amazing...

Sunday was like 4 hours straight of Doves, Blocparty, Interpol and Finn Bros. Doves were alright but nowhere near as good as what was to come. Blocparty were the biggest party ever, they seemed pretty stunned that the crowd new all their songs. Interpol were really good. Finn brothers were a nice end to the day playing lots of crowded house and split enz stuff resulting the crowed alternating between coordinated swaying and jumping up and down.

After all the excitement we headed back to town so everyone could lose to me at pool, but it seems that tg had a good excuse for playing so shite, cause by the time we got back to our room, she was having such bad chest pains that we had to take a trip to byron bay emergency department.

sidenote - could this be matt’s bad influence?? since he came on the scene as a pair they have made two trips to emergency, put a hole in the floor, broken a bed, broken a shower and required the use of my first aid kit.

Anyway, Dr Alan started examining her, and I nearly fainted (so much for being over my phobia), but he said her heart was ok and that it was probably pleurisy?? or a pulled muscle and that the best thing for both conditions was to take a couple of neurofen and hope it doesn’t get any worse…

and now we're back in good old adelaide :)

Bread and butter pudding is Prince Charles’ favourite dessert

Dinner last night thanks to J’s parents, yummmm, crab bisque, then roast lamb, then bread and butter pudding...

J: Coughing
Jmum: I have some medicine for you, it’s very famous Chinese medicine, its really effective, everybody in china takes this medicine and they get better
J: I don’t want it
Jmum: Come on jonathan, I don’t want you to get pneumonia, look at you, you don’t even have a jumper on, you must be cold, why do you walk around like that jonathan, you know everytime you get sick your lungs get weaker and weaker, you know what your grandma used to say to me, she would say
You are cold without your clothes and your clothes are cold without you, but together you are warm.

Jon’s mum brings out this bottle of thick black goey stuff with a chinese label
J: What is it... I’m not taking it.
Jmum: Jonathan, everybody takes this, I love this, two year olds in china love it, come on jonathan, you need to take care of yourself, take the medicine, I don’t want you to get pneumonia
J: takes medicine
Jmum: Come on jonathan, finish it… clean the spoon, jonathan, clean it... clean it...
J: There is no way I’m finishing that.

awwww.... :)

Spitting in the dark…
So, the spitting in the dark experiment is finally over, phew. It was surprisingly tough to stay home for two Friday and Sunday nights, sit in the dark, wear sunglasses, relax and take saliva samples every half hour. It was so boring. Definitely earned my $250 guineapig wage.

Did anyone else get wet on the weekend…
So as everybody who’s come within 50m of jon knows, jon has had a cold all week, and a ‘fever’, and a sore back, and been sweating a lot so on Saturday (the really rainy day) he thought it was a good idea to put our quilt and all our pillows outside to air… in the rain… the pouring wet rain…

Friday
On Friday we had to stay home for the sleep study spit collection thingo, and so thought ok, we’ll play some poker so that we don’t look so out of place wearing our sunglasses inside at night. Good plan that was, tg went all-in on a short stack with KK, I finished up all-in with QQ and B all-in with JJ, sounds like it should have turned out alright, with tg trippling up, me getting the side pot and B going home with tail between his legs. But I forgot to mention that on the flop fell his J to give him trips and knock both tg and I out in the same hand, all before 10pm! So, what are a couple of girls to do now, with the lounge room occupied and not allowed to leave the house? Well, we had our own sunglasses-at-night party in my room with tg sorting through our 191gig mp3 collection (smaller now that the likes of Norah f**king Jones and other wedding singers have been removed finally) and me taking down (well nearly, 2nd is pretty good at this stage) a $20 online tournament to start my new poker comeback success story…

Saturday
Saturday night, went to the Prince Albert for a few quiet ones and stayed for some nice wholesome adelaide bands. Had another funni ladies toilet incident, walked in and these two girls started speaking in French. I never knew the Prince Albert attracted such a multicultural crowd, cause tg said that when she went to the toilets there were also two girls speaking in French?? Quand cette manie française entière a-t-elle commencé, et pourquoi est-ce que n'importe qui ne m'a pas indiqué à son sujet? I think my ‘c**ksucker’ craze was far more interesting, but it didn’t seem to take off in the mainstream, hahaha, but I guess I can’t compete with the more ‘romantic’ languages.

Sunday
Nothing. But in relation to eating rhubarb crumble on sat night, B's grandpa was right:
Kidney stones affect mostly middle-aged and older men. You increase your risks if your diet is low in phosphates or protein or you eat a lot of food that's high in substances known as oxalates. Among the foods that have oxalates are coffee, black tea, rhubarb, sorrel, spinach, lamb's-quarters and purslane. Herbal formulas with rhubarb or sheep sorrel may contain more oxalates than would be beneficial.
What the hell are sorrel and lambs-quarters?

Today
My sister and nic are back from Vietnam!!! What did i get while they were away? Nothing. No postcard, no email, and only that one group sms when they arrived, there better be some cheap tacky souvenirs waiting for me when I go visiting tonight…

In other news...

I rearranged our lounge room and I have votes to keep it like that from nai and mtb so far. J is undecided and tg doesnt like it.

We have weavels in our pantry and maybe moths in our linen cupboard, tg got her sheet out and it was basically shredded!

Nai continues to be drivers-licence-less and I arrived home on sat to see him riding his bike home from the football in the rain, he was so wet and cold :(, good thing we had a fire burning that day, it got lots of use.

C**k Suckers
Well, still feeling about 63% health. Two days off last week were good, but I still feel no good. I spent most my time watching the whole of series one of Deadwood and have since been trying to stop myself calling everyone a mutha f**king c**ksucker. Although, sometimes ppl are c**ksuckers, so if I have called you that lately, then don’t think that this is in any way a f**king reprieve.

It was all rouge and tiaras in my day…
Nannas 88 now and going strong, good on her I say, must be pretty tough really. Mum rang me 3 times to organise lunch, mum said she was thinking the Hilton or Hyatt, then finishes up settling on the Buckingham Arms!! How you go from the Hyatt buffet, to the goddamn Buckingham Arms, I don’t know. Oh well, I guess everyone seemed to have a good time regardless of the fact that the custard skin was impenetrable and the vegetables were all cooked to a soup. Nanna kept urging jon to eat more pudding and ice-cream because he is too frail, which I whole heartedly agree with and perhaps if he took her advice he wouldn’t be lying in bed moaning about having some kind of bs he calls a ‘fever’ right now.

Search for wisdom
Jn’s mum says it’s not easy being jn’s mother. She says that she knows she is a good mother, but wants to be a wise mother, and it’s very hard to be a wise mother to Jonathan.

Taki aki
Taki got locked in the house sat night, or so the smell seemed to indicate.
Hmm, lets find where Taki pooed…Oh there it is, 4 hours later, found it buried in Barters T-shirt.

Brunatex + No through road

Exeter on Friday night was packed, I remember mtb telling me she was in the toilets and some girl couldn’t wait and had hitched up her skirt and pissed in the sink… eeeewwwwww… some ppl are just c**ksuckers. Apart from that and a few other annoying c**ksuckers it was a good night.

and finally.....
ITS NAI'S BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!!!! HIP HIP HAPPY BIRTHDAY HORRRAAAAAYYY!!!!
