Don't like interviews, can't be bothered with your resume, want to teach our impressionable youth?

I have been rang twice now in the last couple of weeks by the Education Department offering me jobs without needing an interview and based on a resume from 2001.

The first one was teaching Year 12 gifted Maths and IT students at a senior specialist maths/science high school! It’s probably the only job I would quit for, but they only gave me 2 weeks notice in which time I would have to resign and finish up my current position and prepare lessons for year 12’s who want 20’s in subjects I’ve never even looked at before. Plus it would mean a pay cut and most likely double the hours I do now.

The second was teaching at a school in walking distance from my house with a reasonable reputation. For this one I was asked to start tomorrow and again would mean quite a big pay cut and lots of hours.

Seriously, I mean it’s nice to know I’m employable and all, but what kind of system are they running, I wonder how teachers handle it all. Very frustrating when you actually want a job too, you never get time to prepare and always have to take pay cuts.

How can what I’m doing now pay more than teaching where I would have massive influence on like hundred kids uni entrance scores?? I look at my yr 12 scores and there is a direct relationship between each subject mark and the quality of my teacher for that subject. Seriously it makes such a difference in peoples lives but no-one seems to want to pay teachers an appropriate salary.

I’d still go back to teaching though, pretty rewarding job in most other ways and definitely not boring.

Stupidity

It’s weird how ppl are stupid in different ways. If I was feeling more positive I might say ‘It’s weird how ppl are intelligent in different ways’, but some days it just gets me down.

I’ve finally managed to start doing at least some work at work after a spell of massive procrastination and now I seem to have landed myself another opportunity to show how bad my public speaking skills are.

Made some very minor changes in my room as part of comprehensive clean-up for inspection last week and I hate it, but can’t see a better option. Swapped my desk for one with draws and now I continually bang my knee on the corner.

Big day out was good, but if I could go back and have the option of selling my ticket at a massive profit I would. The scheduling of acts and venues was a good example of stupidity in action. I had a good time though, but I think I dehydrated myself jumping around cause I was feeling quite unwell at the end.

My sister has been put on a strict diet by her doctor and has been told to eat more protein, I think she may be turning away from her vegetarianism soon, an excerpt from her email

breakfast: yoghurt with protien powder
lunch: eggs, tofu or tuna + 1 smll cup of salad or vegies + drink with protein powder
dinner: eggs, tofu or fish + 1 smll cup of salad or vegies + drink with protein powder
snack: nuts or seeds
NO bread, pasta, rice, cous cous, bananas, potatoe, sweet potatoe, pumpkin
No sugar
oh and add some more protein powder whenever i like ...infact why don't i try shooting up a steak

Mssy has quit smoking again which also involves an overall health frenzy and a very spotless house. She will start weighing food again soon and has already brought home an Oprah health special video and a home stepping machine. Although a little over the top, Mssy’s health frenzys generally turnout to be a good thing for me, if she quits, I quit and at least some other aspects of the health frenz are contagious too. Last time, I lost like 6kg.

Big koalas and the meaning of life

Melbourne was great. Although I always think Melbourne could do with a run through the dishwasher. I think it may be the tram lines that make it look so messy and dirty, Tg had a good suggestion that they paint them light blue, to match the sky, but then on rethinking, they’de be better off painting them grey really if they’re trying to match the sky.

So the weather was shit from start to end but the Polyphonic Spree was a ray of sunshine. Actually, perhaps a ‘burst’ of sunshine is more descriptive. I think I love that guy, and he seems to love everyone. Went to Pony the next night, pretty much like supermild, but bigger and they attempted to have bands throughout the night, which didn’t really work, dancing was fun though. Got home just in time to see Anita and Ben leaving for work,

Pretty hung-over for the drive home, I didn’t think Tg was going to make it, and G had to work that night which had to be bad. But once we were out of the city it was all ok, we covered all the important topics, meaning of life, alien life forms, irrational phobias and which cryptic crossword is better (Women’s Weekly or Women’s Day).

BDO tomorrow is not going to be as good, should’ve just gone the Melbourne one, oh well, low expectations for these things is prolly a good thing.
