Turkey sandwich

Wrote to George W today, you can apparently reach him at president@whitehouse.gov

I directed him to some reading material:

http://web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGAMR511462004

and then asked him to be a great leader if he could manage it.

Imagine being employed to read his mail, I wonder if he gets more positive or negative mail overall. You’de think it would have to be pretty highly skewed in the negative, cause I tend to only bother to write negative ones, but I always try to stick to the sandwich theory, you should sandwich your negative feedback between two positive feedbacks. With George W the positives pretty much consisted of me addressing the email with ‘Dear’ and signing off with ‘Thankyou’ instead of with profanities.

If I can not dance, I want no part in your revolution.
--Emma Goldman

I don’t understand ppl who don’t like dancing. I sit and listen to my ipod at work, and in strong opposition to the office environment, certain songs seem to take me to the flashing coloured dance floor in my imagination.

So, it brings me to the question of why do some ppl not like it? It seems to me to be a very natural reaction that most humans have to music, you can see it in children, before they have inhibitions, they hear music and they just dance.

Anyway, went to Jstn and Sphia’s wedding on Saturday and it was a truly love filled event. Sphia’s brothers speech was soo nice and he was so filled with the emotion he felt towards them that he had to stop a number of times to try to stop tears of happiness, I can’t explain how genuinely beautiful it was, but really, lets get back to dancing.

So after the entrée, it was announced that we should make our way to the dance area, but not to dance, to watch Jstn and Sphia do their wedding waltz and they proceeded to do a choreographed dance, not sure if it was a waltz, but it was like dancing with the stars, and everybody loved it, no-one more than Jstn and Sphia. Then they got the whole reception up to join in a conga line. Even sphia’s Nonna was up dancing most of the night.

So, why do most of the guys (before you comment, I said ‘most’ not ‘all’) around me have an aversion to dance? I can’t understand it, they tend to like music so what happened? And how come they are so drastically different from the girls around me, who love to dance? And how did this come about, cause my parents generation doesn’t seem to have this problem?

A resurrection and new birth

It seems there is a resurrection and a new birth in our midst.

thereisonlyonerk seems to be back :) and apparently chd is out there somewhere as yet unknown writing a masterpiece:

"my blog will easily out weigh bigg's, and from what I can see, jeembeen will have a run for his blog ( or money)...The threat is on........ the anticipation is building........."

The Resurrection

I was talking to Jeem about this last night. I don’t get the resurrection part of the whole jesus died for us thing, what’s the point of it, if you go to heaven when you die, why was there a resurrection? Why did Christ need his body in heaven? What were the 40 days for?

Jeem, who I believe attended a good religious all boys school had no straight forward answer for me and my education was certainly lacking in religious studies. So here is my research so far.

Definitions:
Resurrection - The act of rising from the dead or returning to life. In Christianity, the rising again of Jesus on the third day after the Crucifixion.
Ascension - In Christianity, the bodily rising of Jesus into heaven on the 40th day after his Resurrection.

From Google:
Joseph of Arimathea went to the Praetorium to ask Pilate for Christ's body. The tomb used for His burial was only about 130 feet from Calvary. On the third day after His death, Christ rose from the tomb. The Scriptures relate eight appearances of Christ before His Ascension, which occured forty days after the Resurrection.

I think this indicates that the resurrection and 40 day gap were so he could make a few appearances before his ascension.

From wikipedia (yey for wikipedia):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resurrection_of_Jesus#Judical_view
Now, this by far gave me the closest thing to an answer, but I still don’t think it makes enough sense that millions of people can follow it and understand it. I think the point of the resurrection was that jesus took our sins with him and I think they allude to the idea that before jesus, there was no heaven, but still there is no clear reason why this means his body should be missing, when other religious ppl who go to heaven when they die don’t take there bodies.

Curry

Made curry last night, turned out much better than expected. Lamb rogan josh that I cheated with by using ready made curry paste just add onions, yoghurt, tomatopaste and water. Eggplant one I made from scratch, rk’s mums base recipe, minus 7 of the 9 cloves of garlic that she recommends and not deep frying the eggplant either cause I don’t want to kill anyone with heart disease or halitosis. Raita simple and good. Rice with tumeric and almonds. It was pretty good, could’ve added pappadams and naan though, but even without, it was up there.

In other news

Msy had to fly on a small plane the other day, and thought she was going to die, so after dinner she ordered a cheese plate from room service in case she never got the chance again, then went and drank a longneck in the park b4 getting on the plane :)

She also used the words ‘dude’ and ‘hoity toity’ whilst in a conference call to the legal department of her company.

Inspired by naisay

Haven’t really been cooking since last year, but finally I think I’m back. So inspired by nai and jn’s recent efforts in the kitchen, we had

Tender strips of marinated steak with a fluffy rosmary roast potatoes and a salad of homegrown (thanks to clr and nic) rocket topped with a selection of fresh herbs, roasted pinenuts and a sweet balsamic dressing.

Apart from that, the weekend was filled with many ups and downs which average out to a slightly below average result of me getting to work this morning and my boss asking me if I was sick cause I don’t look very well.

In the news

> My hair has moved from flicking under to flicking out again.

> I discovered that not only do I look like a sleepy smack head in most photos, but I also look like a sleepy smack head on video!! Perhaps that’s just how I look, cause I can’t see how the video could be just have caught me at a bad moment.

> Issues from earlier this week have subsided, but still linger in the back of my mind ready to pounce at any moment

> I have played my first session of online poker. I can totally see how you could become a compulsive gambler with poker and I only played for an hour. I think the only reason I stopped though was cause I lost my connection in the middle of a hand.

So the results so far:

Money deposited = $75
Time played = 60 mins
Highest balance to date (approx) = $100
Lowest balance to date (approx) = $60
Current balance = $89
Profit = $14

As for the game, nothing that interesting happened, but I love it and I can’t wait to play again. The road to addiction begins…

> thereisonlyonerk seems to be deceased due to involuntary manslaughter committed by me

> My ‘future brother in law’ (btw - those are his words) has moved from working in a toilet factory to being a gaffer on the number one Australian drama. Not that the toilet factory wasn’t good or anything, in-fact I think he really liked the toilet factory so I hope he likes gaffering too

Pinapple is better than banana

We have a lolly jar, and I thought the yellow beans were banana flavoured, so they have been building up in the jar, as everything else has been eaten. So it was slim pickings just now when I went for my afternoon lolly, only yellow left, so I thought Id risk it, and it paid off!! They are pinapple, and they are good, and they are plentiful :)

Tired today

Woke up this morning, at 3am, couldn’t get back to sleep, so I read book, fell back asleep at about 7am, dreamt about characters in book, didn’t wake up again till 8.30, great, late for work.

Only now am I feeling the downer of coming back to work, guess that’s ok, cause it’s Friday afternoon anyway so only gotta last a couple of hours and I’m out of here.

So I need happy photo :)
