I got my Christmas letter!

Sometimes I complain alot, but when I get letters like this it makes me realise how much I love my family.

I received this letter yesterday from my Auntie and Uncle, how funni are they! They point out all the bakeries and pubs on the way and everything.

HAIL TO THE MEMBERS OF THE S***** FAMILY IN MELBOURNE, ADELAIDE AND BALAKLAVA…

About Christmas
It’s so good to have most of the family making the effort to spend a few days together at Edithburgh. The trip is about 2.5 hours from the Gepps Cross pub….straight up the Port Wakefield Road, through Pt Wakefield (very nice Kipling’s Bakery on tight hand side of road…recommended stop for coffee and buns….), to the turn-off to Ardrossan to the left.
Travel down the east side of Yorke Peninsula, past Port Clinton and the turn-off to Price.
When you arrive on the outskirts of Ardrossan, there is a very good bakery which may lure you in to the town. If not, a look-out stop on the top of the large heaps of BHP diggings just south of the town is well worth the effort.
Continue past the James Well and Rogues Point Signs - remember staying there A***, B**, P**** and R****?
Pine Point next, with a sign to Black Point - the most highly priced real-estate on east side of peninsula. Then continue to Pt Vincent turn-off - worth a look if you have time – new marina and much new development north of the town.

Stansbury is also off to the left further down, and then you come to a turn-off to the left to Coobowie and Edithburgh. Take this road, and ignore the next turn off to Wool Bay and Point Giles. You will be able to see the silos of Point Giles to your left. After a few kms you will drive into the seaside town of Coobowie. At the T-junction, on the sea front, turn right towards Edithburgh. Continue along this for 5kms, and you will be in the centre of the town, with 2 pubs on the diagonal corners of Blanche St. Our house is *****. Lots of parking there – at the back and front of house. Do call in before you go to ****.
We are planning our family get-together to be the evening meal on the 26th Dec. at about 6.30pm in the **** St house. It will be a buffet meal, with informal seating and eating, as you can imagine at a beach house.
As for gift giving, we have decided to ask for donations to the Royal Flying Doctor Service in lieu of gift-giving to each other. There will be envelopes available for this.
As a bit of fun, let’s all buy/make a gift – quirky and fun – to the value of $5.00 max, to be wrapped and placed under the ‘tree’, meant for no-one in particular. Then A**** will explain the next part of the fun and games, when we each go to the ‘tree’ in turn to choose a gift.
There will be the traditional game of Bocce, of course, on the sea-front though, if weather is good.

On the 27th Dec, we have booked ‘********’ café for the evening meal for all of us, if that’s ok. For the rest, we’ll work things out as we go. The Bottom End (of Yorke Peninsula, that is) is really worth a visit, if we can fit it in. And then there’s the boat… Please bring your beach gear, and suitable clothing for boating. We have a good deal of snorkelling equipment, and there are plenty of fishing lines. K****'s Wading Pool will be available for drinks and relaxing.

There will be about 19 here for at least the 3 days…some of us will stay on until the 31st. It promises to be a great deal of fun, being together.

Love to you all, and thanks for making this a priority during the Christmas break.

Are you +'v?
Well it’s been a stressful week in a number of ways, but let’s focus on the positives. It’s only Thursday and I’m on like it’s Friday, oh well, that’s gotta be a positive.

Booked a trip to the gold coast/ Brisbane today to see the delgados today, yey, 7 ppl committed and it’s not even until feb.
So if anyone wants to join us, let me know.

More jam than marmelade.
Last weekend was jam packed with fun. Friday night I can’t remember much, seems like a year ago, but I think it was a good one, oh yeah, poker, nice, didn’t win though. But chad flopped a royal flush, never seen that before!

Dumpling
Went to lunch with Ktya + her belly (which has a real human growing in it, nice!) at mandarin house, yum, lots of dumplings. My boss just said “babies are like toothpaste, once they’re out, you cant put them back in”. Lap stopped by on his way to a wedding where there were 600 ppl!

Up up and awaaay
Saturday night was Ca and Chlsy engagement party, how good was that one, supermild is such a nice venue, a good atmosphere. Had one of those nice cocktails of pear juice and frangelico, I love those.

It degenerated after we left supermild, we finished up eventually at fowlers where Ritchi fell asleep on some really indie guys shoulder, pretty funny. He was doing that thing where you cant keep your head up, and you nearly fall asleep and start to fall to one side, and then you suddenly realise and jerk up again, eventually he opted for straight down chin to chest drunken sleep position, and that’s how we left him.

I seem to be making a habit of leaving my sht everywhere. Left my bag at mojo with like $200 in it, I went back and it was still there, nice.

Ferrels with Ferrets
Sunday I was tricked into going to the animal welfare association fete. I’m allergic to most animals and I hate the rest. Lots of ferrels out there (wingfield or something), lots of ferrels with ferrets too. There was a big sign saying ‘got a rabbit problem’ on the ferret cage. Cb’s produce stand was cheap and friendly, but a little to much of marmalade. We were a little late though.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Mtb’s birthday today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MTB! We went for birthday brekky which was really nice, I like it and I think we should do it for everyones bday now.

Local Organic Rubbish

Eew, im eating this organic local salad right now, it just doesn’t taste very good, I cant even finish it.

I specially bought local organic produce for my salad this week cause it should tast better right? and it cost almost double too. Is it worth it?
I mean the thing is I don’t know how un-organic the regular ones are, but they def taste better.

me: why are you so interested in yeast
jmes: its interesting
me: ha, i thought i was the only one that thought that

Yeast

Not as soft as a nicebun

How good was the weekend, although I still didn’t get around to doing my china photos and framing my china pictures, it was a perfect balance of family, friends, party and baking.

Friday night had drinks with Mtb work friends at the cavern, Wendy offered some tips on how to deal with work colleagues that reflect your bad qualities back in your face. Well, I’m not sure if this is my situation exactly, but perhaps I’ll give it a go.

Saturday went to lunch with Js and used the new vacuum cleaner on my bedroom. It sucks a fair bit, even from the sides. It has a second engine in the head that pulls it along by itself.

Met Kate and Amy who are over from Sydney for their birthday having dinner with my sister and their crew. Ten blondes all having dinner, looked pretty funny.

Then picked up a Bgsy who was wandering the streets (apparently coming from watching the soccer at the Rosemount, which is coincidently the same direction as 108) and headed to mojo for a quick game of foos, then to supermild for dancing. So much fun, lots of dancing, ‘the greatest band in the world’ guy nearly kissed bgsy again, but then settled for a man-style hug and I told some irish guy that Js was 2m tall. Tg and I kicked on to milehigh for a nightcap, brushed paths with gerling, then I realised I’d lost my phone, so thinking it was a stoopid suggestion, we called it and the bar chick answered and we went and picked it up on the way home :) clearly my luck is changing for the better, cause we won netty last night too!

On Sunday, Mum and dad stopped in for a coffee and some cake, mum’s new pacemaker seems to be working a treat, I still can’t believe they install them with only a local anaesthetic. However, she has had to change her lifestyle a little, as the user guide explicitly states you should not “go hunting with a rifle, play golf, or go fly fishing” for a couple of weeks after the procedure.

Soft

Hoh, we’ve made progress, I managed to make delicious SOFT ‘nice buns’ yesterday. So soft, so delicious, still need a little bit of work, but veeeerrrrry close now.

I think the problem in the past has been a combination of bad yeast and a non-conducive environment.

This time, I used basically the same ingredients as I have been for the last 5 or so failed attempts that resulted in little rocks, but I mixed the dough in the breadmaker, and provided a very warm environment for rising.

They turned out to be yummy cheese and ham filled pockets with no evidence (no seam, no hole, no nothing) as to how it got inside!

Superfamily

Bionic:

1. Having anatomical structures or physiological processes that are replaced or enhanced by electronic or mechanical components.

2. Having extraordinary strength, powers, or capabilities; superhuman.

Over the last few days I have been offending everyone I talk to, breaking everything I touch and losing everything I play. Quite stressful really.

I’m kind of resigned to it now and all this bad luck is quite a good distraction to whinge and whine about and also makes a change from me complaining about dying.

Mum is having a pacemaker installed today, now almost the whole family has some kind of bionic part in their body. She was in good spirits and was joking about doing some damage to C to make a complete bionic family.
However, she did almost neglect to even inform both C and me that she was even going into hospital today. We only found out by accident.

Missisms

Last weekend was just a bit too manic, got to work Monday and I was all worn out.
This weekend was much more pleasant.

Went shopping on Friday night, met C, then M, then Tg, then Mtb.

M said that my face is gaunt and my lips now look to big for the rest of my face and that everybody is saying so. I wasn’t really offended, I mean, I can’t really do anything about it, C said that it was an awful thing to say and it wasn’t true.

Also, I spoke to M’s brother on the phone, he said M told him about J’s grandmother having 10 servants and a massive house like a palace and how the servants gave me a pedicure and a massage and stuff.
(BTW, none of this is true and it’s kind of an embarrassing letdown when they find out the truth, like when M told all her work colleagues that I’m a genius and then made me go to a quiz night)

However, M’s brother was happy to hear that in China they do actually serve sizzling beef on a sizzling hotplate and it’s not something they just made up for Australians.

Flashback
In year 8, M continually stole my bag and either upended it into the bin, or threw it up in a tree.

Present Day
Now, 15 years later, we live together in happy harmony.
