My Monotonously Wonderful Life

I don’t see why everyone seems to have such a negative reaction to Christmas. I mean, c’mon, it’s a bit petty isn’t it. Basically your complaining about getting and giving presents, having a holiday and seeing your family for a big delicious meal.

Blog Block

Hoh, it feels good that my blog block seems to have ended too.

Stress Campaign

Quick post so I don’t forget how relaxing my holidays are gonna be:

24th – Christmas shopping including market shopping for chrissy lunch
25th – Chrissy lunch at ma and pa’s.
Clr and I are cooking lunch and trying to keep Mums stress levels down. It’s pretty much impossible though and I’m pretty sure it’s not good for her at the moment. Clr and I have decided to go on a no stress campaign. I thought about buying mum the Dalai Lama’s guide to happiness, but I thought it might actually stress her out that I gave it to her.
26th – off to Edithburgh for big family chrissy dinner, lots of family invading the town for a couple of days, could go either way for mums stress levels.
28th – back to Adelaide, J’s family arriving for wedding, need to show them a good time cause they basically took us out to lots of nice places and paid for lots of nice dinners while we were in KL and Hong Kong. Hahahah, J has to pay.
29th-30th – get ready for best NYE party extravaganza at Clr and Ncs house.
31st - party :) cmon!
1st - clean up, hangover, get ready for wedding
2nd - Chrsta and Tms wedding, J has to dance with the bridesmaid in the wedding waltz hahhahhahah, prolly be made to get his hair cut to :(
3rd - relax
4th - back to work

Other Stuff

Got my ipod back after not having it for a week, omg, I love it so much, still, even after two years.

Looking at Msys sales figures the other day, Brter said, "jeesus, thats like less than double half of last year's"

Accidently sucked a whole ball of string up into the powerhead of the vacume cleaner.

Got asked for ID twice last weekend.

Someone stole the laptop and projector from work during the night, the door wasn't tampered with and the security cables were cut with bolt cutters.

Had our staff chrissy lunch, Nmh was telling us about how she was really nervous about putting her cats into cat care while she was on holidays, and Edy goes "yeh, we put our cat in there once, and when we got back we had to bury it"

Bring me a butcher of beer Puffa.

Msy calls me at 5pm on her way to pilates to tell me about her day.

She’d just been on a radio quiz thing to win $10 000 and when she rang the girl answering phones asked her off air if she was single and she said ‘no’ and the girl goes ‘do you want to pretend to be single when you’re on air’ and she did, but she lost anyway.

She went to the country to visit a customer called Puffa who promised her next time she came he’d have bbq lunch with her.

While she was doing her work he organised for the kitchen to prepare a couple of steaks, walked to the chicken shop and picked up a whole heap of salads and some chips, set a table up with a candle and selected a really good bottle of red wine to go with the meal. So she had a candle lit lunch and drank half a bottle of wine, and then he put a schooner of beer in front of her, but she had to say “Pour that out puffer, I’ve had far too much, bring me a butcher instead”

So then, cause she’d clearly had too much to drive back, she spent the afternoon getting her nails done in the beauty parlour.

Hahahahahahha, I love Msy’s day.

I feel a tumour coming on.

Once again, it’s only Thursday but I feel the weekend coming, as DJ Craig writes in a surprisingly familiar sounding vain “Can't wait for this weekend. Do you ever find yourself living for the weekends?”

I have soo many things to do of far greater priority than this, so if you were thinking about getting annoyed at me for making time to write this post rather than do something that I have promised I’ll do for you then I’m sorry, cause you’re totally right. This list includes but is not limited to:

# NYE party invitations (not coming along very well considering it is now the 9th Dec, but there will be a fantastic party with all the bells and whistles, fairy lights, foos ball, jelly shots, punch, baked snacks and more to be announced, so keep the night free)

# tg’s thoughtful present for her beau (this will be ready by Christmas, promise)

# any of the ten million tasks on my work to do list

# finding and sending certain information that I have already provided to an annoying international bank that requires me to send them again and has the volume on their stupid automated phone answerer too loud such that I can’t stand to call them and tell them that I already sent the information b4

Great, after listing just those four things (albeit item 3 makes it ten million and three) my enthusiasm for the coming weekend has been squashed by the pressing nature of these tasks and now I feel a headache, or perhaps a tumour coming on.

PS – notice I used the word ‘albeit’ again, and I have reverted to using the word ‘correct’ in place of the word ‘yes’ again too. These are clear signs that I need more weekend and less weekdays. (I have also noticed my overuse in conversation of the word ‘clear’ and ‘clearly’ too)

PPS – Friday night doing a stint of bar work with the girls for Msy who said to wear comfortable shoes and slutty tops, mtb thinks it is going to be like coyote ugly and tg said she doesn’t do slutty uppers. Should be a funni night.

Lopsided

I feel lopsided today. In fact been feeling lopsided for a while now.
I remember my mum telling me when I was a kid that to check if my back was out I should look at my clavicle bones and see if they are even.

Friday

Had a look in a couple of shops on the way home, found nothing, I asked the shop assistant if the sunglasses were too big for my face and she said, ‘uuuummmmm’.

Went to Beyond India for Mchl’s birthday, there were like 16 of us and the waiter said it was the biggest table they’de ever had. What a load of rubbish. He was quite impressive though, didn’t write anything down, and remembered all our drink orders. I find this kind of showy waiter behaviour makes me anxious, it seems to me to be asking for trouble.

Then we went to The Archer for drinks. The bar guy was pretty nice, kept saying ‘I’ll give you three for the price of two on that’ and made us his special cocktail which was called a ‘sticky thigh’ or maybe a ‘sticky dyke’ not sure which one, either way, he felt the need to apologise for the name of it.

Moved on to Mojo, which has been sold to the cleaners, but will apparently remain pretty much the same. 80’s night and bgsy was in heaven on the dance floor. Got home and brtr was asleep on the couch. Couldn’t wake him, perfect opportunity to beat him in his sleep, but I was too tired. Left him there and went to bed.

Saturday

Lazy morning, finally got my computer going again, with new power supply and wireless action up and running. C came over to fix the NYE invitations and we sat around for a couple of hours trying to put something together and in the end didn’t manage to get anything done. Whilst looking for ideas, I looked up 2004 in wikipedia, go have a look for yourself, it's not pretty. Anyway keep the 31st free, something will happen.

Now my computer is fixed, I nearly signed up to partypoker, but managed to put it off. Have to think of a good poker name, btw ‘Pokerhontas’ and ‘Minty Lerew’ are not good, so if you are thinking about suggesting them to me, don’t.

Went to the worlds end to say goodbye to Rlnd and Jcnta, they’re off to Dundee where it is currently –5 degrees. Brrrrr. Then talking to Rlnd + friend about games and J goes ‘yeh, I just cant see myself playing a game for like 5 hours straight anymore’, so it seems that poker is no longer a ‘game’.

Too tired for supermild, so headed to CHS for poker. Finished up playing manilla which is like texas holdem but with a reduced deck and limit betting rounds. Very unsatisfying, every hand I folded would have won on the river. Limit just takes to long, and chips just seem to sneak away without you reallising.

Sunday

Yey, we got our Christmas tree up and it’s better than ever. It’s a beautiful sight complete with 3 sets of lights, paper mache reindeer and lots of gold bows. Within 5 mins M and I were covered in red lumps and sneezing, but it was worth it in the end. The whole house smells of pine now and the lounge has a very festive feel.

High Expectations 1

Great, we got allocated our Kris Kringles yesterday. I got the director of the whole department.

When the secretary was handing them out she goes
“I think the hardest person would be G (the director) because last year it was so good that whatever he gets this year will be a let down.”

High Expectations 2

My horoscope said something about ambitions and keep working at what you’re doing and it will pay off.

Maybe I’ll bake again, I had such high expectations last time (used supreme flour – thnks tg, doubled the oil and sugar content too) and they turned out ok, but not much better than the last breakthrough with softness. I gave one to B the chef and he reckoned that the bread was spot on. Perhaps I need to focus on construction now. It takes so long at the moment and I’m just not getting enough filling in there. The blackberry trial was a disaster with all the blackberry filling oozing out the bottom. The ham and cheese ones turned out ok, but still too much bun and not enough niceness.
