Im still sick, but no more vomit.
Went to la for the premiere of "Kangaroo Jack" slogan "He's got the money, and he isn't giving it back.."
We stayed with some friends called Kate and John. They are very nice people. They live in a house on a hill in Echo Park, LA. They have a 'darling' house.
On friday night they took us out. We went to this french bar/cafe with minimal signage but it was the first good food i have eaten since ive been here. This was a good thing considering it was the first food i had eaten in about 48hrs. It was also the first place I didnt get asked for I.D. Then we went to a bar down the road.
None of the bars and clubs here have signs. Apparently it is cool to just know the spots to go. So the bar we went to was just this big yellow wooden door on an unmarked building. Along the way, Kate pointed out many other dodgy looking doors that contain bars and clubs.
It was really dark inside and looked like a typical american bar. The bartenders free pour and Claire was paro off of 3 drinks. Kate hates jazz music and so goes to the juke box to change the music and some annoying girl at the bar tries to put more jazz on and the bar tender bans her from the juke box. The annoying girl is sitting at the bar with an open script in front of her. Kate comes back and tells us about the annoying girl.
Kate and John got married recently and on their wedding cd put a song by the cars. John wanted to put the sex pistols on it but then had a rethink.
You cant smoke inside anywhere in california so people take shifts to going outside to the smoking patio for a cigarette. The security guard asks claire for one but she doesnt understand him. It is so dark in the bar that when he goes back to his post, you cant see him.
We go home. Claire cant lay down cause she's dizzy. I get the best nights sleep ever.
