Went to Sydney on the weekend, I actually totally forgot I was going until A rang me and reminded me on Thursday night! You’d think she would have mentioned it earlier.
Friday I spoke to C and discovered that she wasn’t arriving in Sydney until 4pm on Saturday which would leave me alone with A and B for approximately 22.5 hours! I think I over reacted a little cause I got pretty mad, and hung up on her. Then rang back and got mad again. Then settled down and just got very disappointed for tow reasons, one, cause I was excited about going b4 I found out this news, and two, my very bad attitude concerning time spent with A and B.
As it turned out, it was ok. There were a number of incidents, including stories of complaints to Kmart customer service staff, actual complaints to airport security staff and more complaints to hotel staff, all pretty much over things that shouldn’t be complained about.
Spent Sat morning by myself in the hotel, which was a little dodgy but had a nice deck, pool and view on the 45th floor. However, to get to 45th floor requires going down to lobby via lift no. 4 then up to 45th floor in lift no. 3 . Now the button that calls the lift for 45th floor, calls lifts 1, 2 and 3, however, the access card for hotel guests only works in lifts 3 and 4, of which only lift 3 goes to 45th floor. Same situation on the way down from the 45th floor. Also, if you decide that you want to take the stairs, it is a decision not to be taken lightly as once in the stair well, the doors to all floors are locked inside (your room key will not open the floor your room is on either), so you have to go all the way down to the lobby to get out. I learnt all this by trial and error, and think it may be part of the reason why I was the only one in the pool on a perfect 30 degree day.
From the view I could see a stage and vaguely hear a band playing in one of the parks nearby, went and checked it out but it was a political rally.
C arrived and we all went to dinner and then to The Lion King the musical as a family outing. Show was pretty good with really good use puppetry and art direction, some performances letting it down a little.
On Sunday we met Kt and Al for yum cha in chinatown, C had finally remembered to bring the framed portrait of chairman Mao to return to Al cause she accidentally took it when she moved back to Adelaide, discretely handed it over managing not to make a scene.
Made C buy a new phone cover for her phone and tricked her into getting eminem making a rude gesture.
Nearly bought a statue of an Elephant laying down that holds a wine bottle, but resisted the temptation.
There’s more but it’s too long already.
Overall it was ok in the end.
